Enjoy the Simple Pleasures of A County Fair….
Looking for an end-of-the-summer weekend that doesn’t involve smog, traffic-choked streets, expensive parking, and crowd-clogged events? Then skip Seattle’s Bumbershoot and plan to attend the annual Ferry County Fair in Republic, Washington. A scenic, two-and-a-half-hour drive from Spokane, the fair provides visitors with all the fun and pleasures of an old-fashioned country fair in an environment of sweet, clean mountain air, pastoral mountain roads, and jewel-like lakes.
The county fair traces its origins to Grange fairs begun in 1940. Reclassified as a county fair in 1971, the fair now has something to offer every taste and interest. Explore local art, crafts, photography, canning, dog shows, livestock exhibitions, and horse shows. Exhibits are entered on Wednesday. Judging is scheduled for Thursday. Friday is Kid’s Day, and includes games and races.

It takes a village! Valley celebrates its 87th Community Fair this weekend. It is the goal of the Valley Community Fair Association to preserve an "old-Fashioned" fair atmosphere.
